15mm Tempered Glass
Tempered glass, or toughened glass, has been heat-treated to make it stronger and safer to prevent injury in case if it ever breaks. Glass tempering is takes place after cutting and edges polishing complete. This process involves heating the material and then quickly cooling it. In fact, tempered glass is four to five times stronger than annealed, or untreated, glass. In the event of breakage, tempered glass fractures into small, relatively harmless pieces rather than jagged shards.
Applications of Tempered Glass
Vertically: In glass balustrades, glass doors, glass partitions, glass spandrels, glass panelling/wall coverings and any low-level glazing.
Overhead: In glass roofs, skylights and glass canopies.
Furniture: In glass tables (both as glass table tops and as solid glass furniture), glass shelving, display units and retail stands.
Underfoot: In glass floors and glass stairs. Typically it is recommended that these be constructed in tempered glass with laminated processing.
